A life shaped by multiple worlds

I didn't come to therapy through a single straight path. I came through corporate boardrooms, church pulpits, trauma healing circles, and the quiet, sacred space of a counseling room. Each world shaped who I am as a clinician and as a human being.

I spent years in the corporate world — building the kind of analytical sharpness, emotional intelligence, and organizational fluency that most therapists never develop. That background means I understand the pressure you carry, the language you speak, and the way high-achieving people often intellectualize pain instead of feeling it.

As a former church minister and pastoral counselor, I learned to sit with people in their deepest grief, their most profound questions, and their most honest moments. That work taught me that healing is never just cognitive — it is spiritual, relational, and embodied.

Today, I bring all of it into the therapy room: the rigor of evidence-based training, the warmth of pastoral care, the sharpness of a corporate mind, and the attunement of someone who has spent decades learning how human beings connect, rupture, and repair.

Evidence-based. Emotionally attuned. Culturally alive.

Most therapists are trained in one or two modalities. I have spent years accumulating the deepest possible expertise across multiple evidence-based approaches — not to be impressive, but because every person who walks through my door deserves a therapist who can meet them exactly where they are.

At the core of my work is Emotionally Focused Therapy — the most research-validated approach to couples and family therapy in the world, with a 70–75% recovery rate for distressed couples. But EFT alone is never the whole story.

I integrate trauma-informed care, Gottman methods, Brainspotting, and existential frameworks to treat the whole person — not just the presenting problem. And I bring a rare multicultural fluency, having lived and worked across multiple cultures, that allows me to hold the complexity of identity, family systems, and relational dynamics with genuine sensitivity.

How I work

What makes this therapy different

Most therapy treats symptoms. I look for the underlying emotional patterns — the negative cycles, the attachment wounds, the unspoken fears — that keep people stuck. Then I help you change them, together.

🔄

Breaking negative cycles

Every couple has a cycle — a predictable pattern of conflict that repeats no matter what the topic is. I help you see it, name it, and step out of it together.

🫀

Emotionally focused, not just talk

Real change happens when we access emotion, not just talk about it. I create the safety for you to go deeper than you've gone before — with your partner or on your own.

🧬

Trauma-informed at every level

Trauma lives in the body and shapes how we attach. As a certified trauma professional, I never push faster than your nervous system can go.

🌐

Culturally attuned

Identity, family of origin, cultural expectations, and faith all shape how we relate. I hold all of that with genuine curiosity and respect — never a one-size-fits-all lens.

Things people ask before reaching out

What makes EFT different from other couples therapy?
Emotionally Focused Therapy is one of the most extensively researched approaches in couples care. Unlike approaches that focus primarily on communication skills or behavioral change, EFT works at the level of attachment — identifying the emotional patterns and unspoken fears that drive conflict and disconnection. Studies show a 70–75% recovery rate for distressed couples, with lasting results. As a therapist certified across all three EFT modalities, I bring the deepest possible level of expertise to this work.
Do you work with couples who are on the verge of divorce?
Yes. Many couples come to me as a last resort — and I have walked with many of them back from the edge. I am also trained in Discernment Counseling, a specialized approach for couples who are ambivalent about whether to stay together, which helps both partners find clarity before committing to couples therapy or separation.
I've been through trauma. Can therapy still help my relationship?
Absolutely — in fact, addressing trauma is often essential to relationship healing. Unresolved trauma shapes how we attach, how we respond to conflict, and how safe we feel in intimacy. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and Brainspotting practitioner, I integrate trauma healing directly into couples and individual work so that the whole person is addressed, not just the presenting relationship issue.
We come from different cultural backgrounds. Will you understand us?
Cultural sensitivity isn't something I learned from a textbook — it is lived experience. I have worked across multiple cultures, am a member of the Asian Mental Health Collective, and bring genuine curiosity and humility to every cultural context. Your identity, your family's values, and your cultural background are not complications — they are essential parts of your story, and I will honor them.
How do I get started?
The first step is a complimentary 20-minute consultation — no pressure, no commitment. You share what's bringing you in, ask any questions you have, and we both get a sense of whether we're a good fit. Email me to schedule yours.
